The Mercer Island Schools Foundation was started in 1985 by community members and has since raised over $31 million to provide our schools with programs that inspire learning, enrich teaching, and promote innovation and academic excellence in the Mercer Island public schools. The Mercer Island Schools Foundation is now the single largest donor to the Mercer Island School District.
The Foundation has provided a means for parents and community partners to invest in an exceptional public education for our island students. The need in the first few years for some textbooks and a few computers has grown into around a million dollar commitment to the District each year that maintains small class sizes, rigorous academics, and a breadth of educational experiences from kindergarten through high school.
Why We Give
“With such dedicated and talented educators in our district, why wouldn’t we want to help provide resources for them to do their most inspired work, to maximize their impact? The support of MISF gives spark to our classrooms, enhancing our entire community. It’s our privilege to join with our neighbors to fuel these efforts.”
Jennifer & Tony Hsu
State and public funding alone cannot fully meet the needs of our students, especially when it comes to providing the high-quality, inclusive education they deserve. The Mercer Island Schools Foundation helps fill the gap, ensuring that every student, in every school, has access to the resources and opportunities necessary to reach their full potential. Community contributions play a vital role in supporting not just enrichment, but the core tools and programs that make a real difference in students’ lives. Our vision is to enhance student learning and arm students with the tools and self-confidence to achieve their dreams.
As the strategic fundraising partner for the Mercer Island School District, we work together to find the most impactful ways to empower teachers, fuel engaged learning, and support students. Because of the generosity of our donors, we have demonstrated the power of public education and the ability to support our students’ diverse needs.
