The Mercer Island Schools Foundation welcomes volunteers to work with our standing committees throughout the school year. To express your personal interests and find where you are best suited to help please contact the Mercer Island Schools Foundation office at 206-275-2550.

Support the Phone-a-Thon in November

Your generous gift of time for one evening in November will help ensure that our Mercer Island schools will have the resources available to provide quality programs and materials to help all students meet or exceed Washington State Standards and grade level.

  • Provide Clerical Help

    When: Thursday or Friday morning before Phone-a-Thon
    Time Commitment: 3 hours

    Help prepare Volunteer Calling Packets for Phone-a-Thon. This is an easy way to help with the event and a great way to meet other community members who care about our schools.

  • Post Yard Signs

    Skills: Driving and the ability to hammer
    When: weekend morning 2 weeks before event
    Time Commitment: 2 - 3 Hours

    Help place 100 yard signs on visible roadways and intersections across the Island to promote Phone-a-Thon.

  • Event Caller

    Skills: Telephone Skills
    When: November
    Time Commitment: 3 hours

    Phone friends, neighbors and community members asking them to join you in supporting our schools and students to provide the critical funding needed to help all students succeed in school and prepare them for their futures’.


Help with the Community and Business Leaders Breakfast in April

There are many opportunities for community members wanting to become involved with this special fundraising event. Each year committee members are needed help with event planning, table captains, flier distribution, set up and clean up.

  • Join the Breakfast Planning Committee

    Skills: Event Planning
    Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours per month January – April

  • Become a Sponsor, Angel or Table Captain

  • Help inform neighbors about the high school event

    A fun opportunity for those who love to walk for better health!
    Time Commitment: 2 hours
    When: Weekend morning before the Breakfast

  • Help with Breakfast Setup and Cleanup

    Setup: the evening before the Breakfast from 5:00 pm to 9:00pm
    Cleanup: Immediately following the event 8:30 am to 10:30 am


Become a Mercer Island Schools Foundation Board Member

Board meets one time a month. Board members are required to work on a committee and offer support with a personal donation of time, making calls, general fundraising, and supporting the mission of the Mercer Island Schools Foundation.
